Global Potassium Stearate
Market is expected to grow at a significant CAGR in the upcoming years as the
scope, Product Types, and its applications are increasing across the globe.
Potassium Stearate is a white, fine powder that has an unusual odor. It is mostly
used as a cleansing agent. It is a metallic salt of fatty acids, also termed as
soap. It mainly constitutes potassium and sodium. Two polar molecules and
nonpolar molecules are readily attached to each other. The non-polar, long
hydrocarbon chains are repelled by water and the salt end molecules are ionic
(hydrophilic) water soluble.

It is used in a wide variety
of skin care and hair care products, including face powder, eyeshadow,
lipsticks, eyeliner, blushers, mascara, and foundations, and often used in the
deodorants, perfumes, and skin care formulas and in hair. The type of fatty
acid and length of the carbon chain, and by the alkali employed the soaps vary
according to its composition. The fatty acids with the long chains are
insoluble. The hard soaps are formed when sodium hydroxide is used as the
alkali, and Potassium hydroxide produces soft soaps.
The metallic salts of fatty
acid are used as herbicides, fungicides insecticides, and Algaecides. In the
insect cell membranes, the lipophilic carbon chains penetrate and terminate the
lipoprotein matrix of this membrane. For the general-purpose of the food,
additives are food grade soap salts. Aluminum, lead, zinc, magnesium, calcium
and the other metals are used in place of sodium or potassium for soaps to be used
in the industry.
